Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has received a free update on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. Its additions include New Game+, two new achievements, an Enhanced Progression Mode option and a revised Power calculation. Players also get the Master Assassin Naoe outfit and an update to Animus Hub synchronization.
The upgraded PSSR support is exclusive to PlayStation 5 Pro. Priscilla Nguyen, Engineering Studio Manager, says it produces sharper, more stable visuals and enables Quality mode to run at 60FPS with enhanced 4K image quality. It also improves efficiency compared with the original PSSR.
The visual improvements used the existing engine and rendering pipeline without requiring an overhaul of content or visual assets. Priscilla Nguyen says the challenge involved balancing performance, image quality and integration into an older game. Upgraded PSSR had already been used in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
