Roblox has opened applications for its AnimatedImage Early Access Program, giving selected creators tools for building 2D animations. Aseprite (.ase) files can be imported with their frames, named tracks and timing preserved. The new AnimatedImage asset holds this animation data, while AnimationPlayer controls playback on an ImageLabel. Creators can also use AnimatedImageService to create or replace tracks using existing frames.

Access is being granted in waves, and creators can check their account settings for acceptance. Testing is limited to Studio, including Play mode and Device Emulation; games using these features cannot yet be published to players. Roblox advises using separate place files because compatibility with Studio Beta is not guaranteed. Team Create is unsupported. Known limitations include performance problems with large or numerous animated images and playback that does not stay synchronized between clients. Roblox says creator feedback will help guide further development.
